Police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to sell a baby to a stranger in a Manchester shopping arcade.
Officers have released an image of the man they are trying to trace over the incident in Barton Arcade in the city centre shortly after 2.30pm.The man was pushing a pram and approached a member of the public, offering to sell the baby, police said.
Sergeant David Henshall said: "This is extremely unusual and at this time we are trying to establish the full circumstances of the situation, but most importantly check on the welfare of the child.
"If anyone recognises the man in the image or has been approached by him in a similar situation please contact police urgently."
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
