A clay model was discovered by Audi boss Rudolf Leidling, who asked Kraus to make some modifications before it could be presented to Volkswagen’s If the F103 laid the foundations for Audi in the UK, it was the Audi 100 of 1968 that provided the building blocks. Against the wishes of his bosses at Volkswagen, Audi’s chief engineer Ludwig Kraus developed the car in secret.
