Harry Shearer is heading back to The Simpsons, two months after contract negotiations broke down and he left the show.
The actor, who voices Ned Flanders, Mr Burns and Smithers, had made the feud public, tweeting that he wanted flexibility to work on other projects: “I wanted what we’ve always had: the freedom to do other work.”
But now he’s signed a new deal for the cartoon’s 27th season, which is thought to be worth more than $300,000 per episode.
The new deal was confirmed on The Simpsons’ official Twitter feed: “We are extremely pleased to announce that all principal cast members of The Simpsons have now been signed. Woo hoo!”
Shearer also voices Principal Skinner, Kent Brockman, Lenny, Otto, Dr Hibbert and Reverend Lovejoy.
Of course, it’s not the first time a salary dispute or a behind-the-scenes feud has lead to an actor quitting a top show. Click through for 11 high-profile disputes from CSI, The X-Files, Charmed, The West Wing and more…
1. Katherine Heigl – Grey’s Anatomy
Katherine Heigl starred as Dr Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy, but she was unpopular with the team behind the show after she famously withdrew herself from Emmy Award consideration in her final year, declaring that her storylines hadn’t been good enough to warrant praise.
As her relationship with her bosses worsened, Katherine announced she was quitting to pursue a film career, but early successes with Knocked Up and 27 Dresses haven’t been repeated in recent years.
