#1 – An Asymmetrical Cut

If you’re feeling daring and desperate for a change, Avi Elkayam, creator of Runway Tools and stylist at Patrice Vinci Salon in Boston, MA, suggests going for an asymmetrical cut a la Miley Cyrus. Short on the sides and longer on top, this style even looks rad with just one shaved side, he notes. “It gives you tons of flexibility as well; you can wear it blown out on top, with tons of volume or swept over to the side or forward for a sleek, sophisticated look.” Try dying your locks a bold hue, like vibrant red or bleach blonde, to really make it pop.
Works best on: Women with strong features, such as high cheekbones, full lips or full eyebrows. If you think your hair might be too thin, ask your stylist to add a few extensions on top to help create fullness, he suggests. You can also buy a couple of clip-ins and play around with bright color sans the commitment of having to dye your own strands.
Maintenance: The key to keeping up this style is regular haircuts, at least every four weeks, says Avi.
