2) Newcastle could do with keeping Janmaat

Graham Carr, Newcastle’s super scout, has lost his magic transfer market touch a little in the past couple of years but the acquisition of the Holland right back, Daryl Janmaat, from Feyenoord last summer represented a return to form. In an indescribably awful season for the Tyneside club Janmaat has impressed – and did so again against West Ham. Not surprisingly, Manchester United, Liverpool and Southampton are said to want him. Their overtures must be resisted. In what should be a major summer clear-out on Tyneside, a top priority for the powers that be at St James’ Park is keeping Janmaat. Louise Taylor
