How to Style:
- Cleanse, condition, and towel dry hair. Don’t blow-dry hair; hair must be damp during the roller setting process.
- Part hair into four sections (from forehead to nape, ear to ear). Use hair clips to lock hair securely in place.
- Select a section of hair to work with.
- Once a section of hair has been selected release hair clip from section and withdraw a medium amount of hair from section, using a fishtail comb, then re-clip hair clip.
- Using a large Velcro roller, wrap end of hair and twist roller securely in place. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until entire head of hair has been set in Velcro rollers.
- Allow roller to set hair to air dry completely. If a hooded dryer is accessible, this also can be utilized for faster drying results. If using a hooded dryer, it should be set at a medium to high temperature for 30-55 minutes, depending on thickness of hair.
- Once hair has fully dried, remove rollers and part hair on one side, then brush curls to one side of your head—be sure not to loosen up the curls during this process. A hairpin can be utilized to secure the curls in place.
- Flatten and smooth hair (opposite side of curls) by applying a generous amount of black styling/holding gel to hair — apply styling/holding gel first, then smooth/dissolve gel into hair using a medium strength bristle brush. You should be brushing the hair to one side of the head, starting from the sides of the hair and stopping at the curls. Don’t brush the curls.
- Comb front portion of hair forward (covering forehead), then to side of forehead — this creates a side swept bang. The side swept bang must be on the same side as the curls.
- Finish this look off by applying a flexible holding hairspray.
To achieve this style, I recommend a quality shampoo and conditioner, hairspray and clip-on hair extensions for length.
Best Face Shape:
Oval shaped faces suit this style best.
