Hairstyle Of The Month: Nicole Kidman’s Retro Faux Bob

What do you get when you combine curls, bobby pins and a cool retro vibe? This insanely adorable faux bob we recently spotted on Nicole Kidman. Between the volume and flirty curls, we just can’t get enough of Nicole’s fun look, so we asked Abraham Sprinkle, member of the Keratin Complex International Creative Team, to teach us how to steal the style. “Kidman’s spin on a 1940s look shows a mock style bob and is all about building volume,” he says.
Ready to channel this universally flattering style? Great, because Abraham is breaking down the step-by-steps for doing just that.

The Retro Faux Bob a la Nicole Kidman

Copy Nicole’s Retro Chic Faux Bob:

Step 1: Begin with building a strong foundation for your ‘do. Prep hair with Keratin Complex KeraBalm 3-in-1 Multi-Benefit Halr Balm to eliminate any pesky frizz from popping up.
Step 2: Then distribute Keratin Complex Vita Volume Boosting Foam evenly through locks, form a clean side part, and blow dry (we suggest using Remington’s T Studio Silk Dryer).
Step 3: Now it’s time to work some curl magic! Using a medium barrel iron, begin at the nape and take small square sections, spraying each with Keratin Complex Flex Flow Finishing Hairspray after curling. Do this all the way until you reach the parietal (the back of your head).
Step 4: Next, wrap the curling iron around similar sized sections, three inches from the base. Once you’re done, use fingers to break curls apart a bit.
Step 5: Taking a bobby pin and a cushion brush (we adore Conair’s Tourmaline Gel Grip Oval Cushion Brush), smooth out the front section a bit, pinning right above the ear on both sides.
Step 6: With your remaining curls, split them into three sections, pinching at the ends and rolling up with no tension to give hair a shorter length.
Step 7: Once all your curls are secured, spread hair around to fill in any sparse spots and spray with Keratin Complex Bold Hold Hairspray. Voila, you’re done!
