Braided Beauty

Got straight hair and want to amp it up with some texture? Add a small braid on one side of your part for instant interest. This blonde beauty has a razored cut on the ends to create a fun shattered-like look. Longer razored layers keep the shattered look going as well as long razored bangs that fall right around the cheekbones.

A long and straight hairstyle with braids

How to Style:
  1. Apply leave-in conditioners to help protect your hair before you blow it dry.
  2. Use a wide tooth comb to detangle and part your hair to the side. Use a large round brush to blow dry your bangs dry then switch to a paddle brush to smooth and dry the rest of your hair.
  3. When hair is completely dry grab a small section of hair about two inches back from your front hairline and braid. Secure with a clear elastic to blend in nicely.
  4. Use a texture or hair spray to lightly spritz the ends of your hair to add a bit more texture.
Recommended Products:
I love the conditioning and detangling properties of Healthy Sexy Hair’s Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner. It smells fabulous, too! Follow up with their Soy Touchable Weightless Hairspray on the ends for light hold and some grit.
Best Face Shape and Hair Type:
Side parts compliment all face shapes the long side bangs and textured layers help break up and soften square faces. If your hair is too fine or thin skip the razor and opt for more of a blunt cut.
Tip: Put a few small braids in your hair to add even more texture. Or try securing a small ribbon to your hair and braiding that through for a pop of color and fun!
