THE SEA MARGE HOTEL, OVERSTRAND, NORTH NORFOLK

Winston Churchill allegedly used the telephone here to mobilise the British navy at the start of the First World War. His father had a house in Overstrand, which was a popular place to holiday in the late 19th and early 20th century. The hotel was built for the banker Sir Edgar Speyer and his American wife in 1908.
