An utterly original fusion of soul, folk and funk, "Come on Eileen" was a 1982 smash for Dexys Midnight Runners. The British band, fronted by singer-songwriter Kevin Rowland, had the good fortune of releasing "Eileen" just as MTV was taking off, and the song became one of the first hits for the network, but it proved to be the only hit for Dexy & Co.
