Art Deco Side Ponytail

A fun geometric hairdo with a side knot ponytail.

Art deco side ponytail for long hair

How To Style:
Start with clean dry hair with a base product already in your hair. Such as styling lotion or thickening spray. Section off the top, and front of your hair, from the back of your hair. Backcomb the section of hair at your crown heavily, smooth with a brush and roll under and pin into a “bump” and then hairspray. Smooth your fringe off to the side, so that they lay sleek. Now take the remainder of the hair and softly twist or use a large braid on each side of your head. Then pull back and secure each section at the sides to the back of the head with bobby pins or a hair tie. At this point you need to decide what side you want your ponytail to lay on. Softly twist or braid the section of hair you have secured at the back and center of your head. Securely pull everything off to the side and secure tightly with a hair tie. Take a medium width strand of hair and cover the hair tie by wrapping it around and pinning with a bobby pin. Brush the pony smooth and simply tie it into a knot. Insert hair pins to secure and hairspray heavily.
Recommended Hair Products:
Bumble and Bumble’s Styling Crème, Styling Lotion, Thickening Spray, Spray Shine, and Spray de Mode Hairspray or Classic Hairspray
Best Hair Type:
This side pony works best with very long, straight hair. The hair should be fairly thick or you may have to use a weft or hairpiece to create the volume on top.
Tip: Always start by blow drying your hair with base products. This is to prep your hair to be put up into a special occasion style. Play with the hair until it looks and right. It is not an exact science, this is almost like creating a sculpture. Adjust it until you think it’s pretty, and you like the way you look. Then hair spray it heavily so it stays all day or night through any event.
