Cross River gorilla (Gorilla gorilla diehli)

Western lowland gorilla juvenile female 'Bokata' aged 6 years walking bi-pedally to cross a river  (Gorilla gorilla gorilla). Bai Hokou, Dzanga Sangha Special Dense Forest Reserve, Central African Republic. December 2011.

Population left: 200 to 300
Very similar in appearance to the more numerous western lowland gorilla (pictured), the small population of Cross River gorillas living in the Congo Basin faces an acute problem of habitat loss and poaching.
