Rotherham Abuse: Gang Leader Jailed For 35 Years

The ringleader of a gang who groomed, raped and abused teenage girls in Rotherham has been jailed for 35 years.
Arshid Hussain, 40, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to rape, 11 indecent assaults, three rapes and a series of other charges during his trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
His brothers Basharat Hussain, 39, and Bannaras Hussain, 36, have also been sentenced to spend 25 years and 19 years in jail respectively.
Their uncle Qurban Ali, 53, has been jailed for 10 years.
Accomplice Karen MacGregor, 58, was also jailed for 13 years, while Shelley Davis, 40, was given an 18 month suspended sentence.
During today's sentencing at Sheffield Crown Court, Judge Sarah Wright told the gang: "The harm you have caused is of unimaginable proportions."
She also paid tribute to the "immense courage" of the women who came forward to give evidence.
Earlier today the court heart that one of the gang's victims was attacked by her own family after she suffered abuse at the hands of one of the brothers.
Prosecutor Michelle Colborne QC said Bannaras met one victim when she was 12 or 13 and she performed sex acts on him.
"He was indifferent to whether she consented or not," she said.
"When her brothers found out, they were furious with her and would physically assault her because she was involved sexually with an Asian man."
Many of the victims sat in the public gallery overlooking the packed courtroom as the sentencing hearing began.
