How To Style:
- Begin with dry hair (day old hair is ideal for this look).
- Gently backcomb the hair at the crown of your head.
- Use a headband of some sort to push the hair around your face back. If needed, secure the headband with bobby pins.
- Gently smooth down the backcombed sections and then gather the rest of your hair back into a ponytail in the back/middle of your head.
- Spray everything with a strong hold finishing spray.
If you have short hair that’s fairly thick and coarse, this style is a great option for you. A heart or oval shaped face will be complemented by this messy look and, as I mentioned earlier, hair that’s a bit dirty will work perfectly for this style.

A great way to get a ton of body when backcombing hair is to spray a bit of dry shampoo at your roots before you backcomb. Try Fresh Dust by L’oreal. It’s light and won’t change the color of your roots!
