ERIC BROWN (JAN. 21, 1919 - FEB. 21, 2016)
The U.K. Royal Navy's most decorated pilot died at the age of 97, following a short illness. In his career spanning 31 years, he held world records for flying 487 different types of aircraft and making the maximum number of aircraft carrier deck landings. Also known as Winkle, he survived two attacks by Germans in the Second World War.
