NANCY REAGAN (JULY 6, 1921 – MARCH 6, 2016)

This December 1986, file photo shows first lady Nancy Reagan holding the Reagans' pet Rex, as she and President Reagan walk on the White House South lawn.

One of the United States' highest-profile first ladies, Nancy Reagan (pictured here with her late husband, former president Ronald Reagan), occupied the White House from 1981 to 1989. She died of congestive heart failure.
