The former mayor of Toronto, Canada, Rob Ford passed away aged 46 after losing his battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer diagnosed in 2014. Ford was a hugely divisive figure who had campaigned on a populist, anti-corruption platform but whose political career was marred with accusations of substance abuse, a stint in rehabilitation for addiction and attempts to remove him from office by the city council.
