A three-year-old boy from Norfolk is believed to have been killed by a car driven by his own mother.
Liam Turner suffered fatal head injuries when he was hit by the car in Adland Road, Carbrooke, on Sunday.
In a statement his family described him as a "happy little boy" who was "deeply loved".
"We are devastated by the loss of our darling little man," the statement said.
"Liam was a happy, content little boy who was always smiling and laughing.
"He had a wonderful sense of humour and brought joy to the lives of everyone who knew him.
"He was deeply loved. Life will not be the same without him."
It is thought Liam was knocked down while playing near his home.
He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but later died.
Norfolk Police say nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the force on 101.
