Sunderland picked up three vital points to further dent Man Utd's top four hopes at Stadium of Light.
Wahbi Khazri put the Black Cats ahead only for Anthony Martial to level before the break, but a late David de Gea own goal handed Sunderland the win.
Elsewhere, West Ham came from 2-0 down to draw at Norwich and there were wins for Stoke, Watford, Southampton and West Brom.
