Angelina Jolie has crammed more into her 40 years than most – the actress was raised in Hollywood and struggled drug addiction in her early years before winning an Oscar for Girl, Interrupted.
But it wasn’t her work that garnered the most attention in those early years. The heavily tattooed star grabbed the headlines for wearing a vial of blood around her neck and admitting she had a fascination for knives.
But her life changed forever when she filmed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in Cambodia in 2000 and was appalled by the region’s poverty. She adopted her first child, Maddox, from a local orphanage and devoted herself to helping disadvantaged people around the world.
Fast-forward to the present day and the UN Goodwill Ambassador recently married her third husband, Brad Pitt, and together the pair are raising six children. Add to that her recent double mastectomy and it’s clear Angelina has experienced intense highs and crushing lows in her 40 years.
Despite her fame, there are still many little-known facts about Mrs Jolie Pitt…
1. Angelina’s first-ever movie role came when she was just seven. She played a very small role in Lookin' To Get Out, the 1982 film which starred her father, Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight.
