Messy Updo

No fuss updos are a curly haired girl’s best friend! They are perfect for second day hair or to transition from day to night.

How To:
  1. On damp hair, apply a curl enhancing lotion or mousse.  Make sure to evenly apply it to avoid dry or crunchy spots.
  2. Dry hair using a diffuser attachment on your hair dryer. Flip head over and dry to give extra volume.
  3. Once hair is dry, find your desired part. Starting in the back, take large triangle-shaped sections and twist once.  Bring them to the center/back of the head and pin with bobby pins in an X pattern.
  4. Continue bringing twisted triangle sections up to pin. The last section should be the front section.  After twisting, you can push the sections slightly towards the face before pinning to achieve more volume.
  5. Arrange loose ends of curls, adding pins where needed. Finish with a light spray of your favorite hairspray.

If you have a bit of lazy curls, try Kevin Murphy’s Motion Lotion.  It will give them a boost with great hydration and hold!
Best Face Shape and Hair Type:
Heart and round shaped faces look fab in this messy updo, while hair that is medium to thick will style easily for you.
Tips:
Curly hair tends to need a bit of extra hydration. Use a deep conditioner once a week, especially through your ends.
