The Volkswagen Up! and its brethrens the Skoda Citigo and SEAT Mii were not only gamechangers for VW Group, but for the entire city car sector. Previously city cars had been noisy, slow and cheap - not the sort of car the majority of us would want to drive for any length of time. But this city car trio changed that. They were fun, excellent value and perfectly good companions for longer journeys. Four years on, the rest of the segment is still catching up.
