Hairstyle Of The Month: Taylor Swift’s Bangin’ Blowout

Taylor Swift has had a pretty amazing (and stylish) couple of months. The singer released her chart-topping album 1989 in October — we’ve been bobbing our heads to its sick beats ever since — and has turned heads with a string of stunning beauty looks while promoting her new music. Take this sassy way she styled her famous bob, for example.
Fernando Salas, creator of White Sands Hair Care, says Taylor’s medium length bob is all the rage right now for one good reason: it flatters everyone. “A shoulder-grazing style is low maintenance — you do not have to commit to the care required for long tresses — and [takes away] any anxiety over having hair that is too short. It’s the best of both worlds! But, what really makes this hairstyle stand out is the bang. Rather than a simple blown under end, her fringe has a slight flick and flutter at the ends for movement and a bit of texture.”
If that doesn’t convince you to finally make the cut, reading this super simple blowout tutorial for medium length hair just might. We got Fernando to share his tips for stealing Taylor’s sassy style in eight easy steps. Enjoy!

Step 1: The key to Taylor’s perfect blowout? Starting with freshly towel dried hair. Once that step’s out of the way, prep locks with a shine serum like White Sands Orchids Oil evenly from roots to tip, concentrating the product more on the ends.
Step 2: For thicker or more textured hair types and for more control while styling, divide hair into sections — bangs, top, sides and nape — and clip each away. While clipping, keep in mind that you’ll work on the fringe area last.
Step 3: Beginning with the bottom section, mist strands with a thermal protectant designed for blowouts like White Sands UnderCover Styling Spray.
Step 4: Now it’s time to work some blowout magic! Once all hair is blown out, turn your attention to styling your bangs. Since you’re styling this area last, it might have lost a bit of moisture during the styling process. Fix that in a flash by lightly misting hair with a water bottle.
Step 5: Taking a paddle brush, dry bangs with a downward brushing motion, making sure your wrist flicks slightly at the end.
Step 6: Using a styling iron like the CHI Air Compact 3/4″ Ceramic Mini Flat Iron, go over the fringe area and slightly flip the ends out for a flirty fluttering effect.
Step 7: If any sections of hair need a bit more polish, quickly run the iron through them.
Step 8: Finally, mist the entire style and especially the fringe with a flexible hold, shine-enhancing hairspray like White Sands Infinity Finishing Spray.
